Probability and Statistics: A Concise Review
These notes provide a brief review of some of the concepts in probability and statistics that are frequently used in the course Introduction to Time Series and Dynamic Econometrics at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. The goals are (1) to present some of the necessary background knowledge to students with little prior experience in statistics and (2) to serve as a quick reference for useful formulas.
These notes are an abridged version of the notes developed for the Econometrics Summer Workshop, a six-day course to refresh the knowledge of prospective MSc students before the start of the master. The rest of the document is currently being revised, but the first two chapters can be helpful for getting started with programming in Python.
